Exciting and efficient ways to exercise

How many times have you told yourself that you need to hit the gym today? Then you realize that you’re too tired or lazy, and you’ll just do it another time. Being a Trinity student is a huge commitment and it’s pretty draining, so when we need to exercise, it’s hard to find motivation.

There are many students involved with sports, so they are pretty much good to go when it comes to fitting exercise into their daily schedules. However, there are some, including me, who aren’t on a sports team who have to find time before or after school to hit the gym. People rarely feel driven to work out, especially in Florida weather, when they could take a nice nap.

Well, you’re in luck because there are quite a few options for working out that are more fun and effective than you think, and that are, most importantly, not that time consuming.

Zumba- Zumba is my personal favorite because it combines cardio and dancing. It works your whole body, and you can get great results. Just pull out your laptop, go on YouTube, and you’ll find all the Zumba workouts one can ask for. If you want to get out of your house to work out, just go on zumba.com and enter in your zip code to find a Zumba class near you!

Power Yoga– Yoga is mostly good for concentration and flexibility, but power yoga is more fast-paced and focused on building strength and is therefore more effective. Although it’s vigorous, it helps to keep stressed minds at peace. Just go to orlandopoweryoga.com or the YMCA to find classes that are given daily.

Boxing/Kickboxing- Not only does these high intensity workouts burn a lot of calories per hour, they can help you burn off steam and even learn some self defense skills. Boxing and kickboxing work all parts of the body, and it is a fun way to break a sweat after a long day. You can go to poundforpoundflorida.com where you can try a class for free!

Rollerskating- If you own a pair of skates, throw them on and go around your neighborhood for half an hour to an hour. You can go with a friend or by yourself, either way, you should get a good workout. If you exert yourself, you can burn up to 500 calories an hour.

You can also go to the YMCA where there are classes for Zumba, yoga, boxing and kickboxing.
