Middle school swimmer sinks 7 team records

Middle+school+swimmer+sinks+7+team+records

Hours and hours spent in the pool, five to six days a week is what Sara used to break 7 school records. She is on the TPS Varsity swim team, and was in the USA Swimming’s top 10 for best swimmers in the country (for their respective ages).

Stricklin started swimming at age five and joined the Trinity Prep Aquatics club at age eight, with her mom as her coach.

“My mom pushes me harder than most people because I am her daughter, but it has really helped,” Stricklin said.

Her mom pushed, drilled, and worked Sara to be who she is today. Sara also warms up before swimming each day.

“My mom gave me a warm up, and I stick to it. It’s also, dependent on what I am swimming,” Stricklin said.

Sara is inspired by olympic gold medalist swimmer Katie Ledecky.

“I don’t really know if I look up to anyone, it’s more just like people inspire me, like Katie Ledecky,” Stricklin said.

Sara’s mom, Coach Anne Marie Stricklin, has been a huge part of Sara’s career and has helped her achieve her record breaking goals.

Once Sara was 8 years old she fell into her mom’s swim group. “I probably was tougher on her than the other swimmers, just because she was my daughter, but she has high expectations, and high goals she wants to achieve so just trying to help her succeed, and watching her has been really cool, as her mom, a parent, and a coach,” Coach Stricklin said.

Coach Stricklin believes that Sara’s motivation and dedication to swim, her daily warm ups, and her training has really paid off this season.

Sara broke records in the long and short course 50, 100 and 200 free.

“I know she has put in a lot of hard work to get to break those team records at the different ages, and it’s just been amazing watching her,” Coach Stricklin said.

Sara is supported so much by her teammates, and parents on her swimming career. Sara hopes to continue her career in swimming throughout college, and one day make it to the Olympics.
