Albright has been on many adventures around the world. Between traveling with her family and with Overland, she has reached multiple destinations. In this photo, she is in Thailand.

Many students like to spend their vacations tanning at the beach, watching Netflix and hanging out with friends. Instead, sophomore Lucy Albright has an eye for adventure.

Albright has traveled to various countries including Iceland, Italy, France, Chile, Costa Rica, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Canada, Peru and the United Kingdom. Through her time abroad, she has seen how different cultures interact.

“By traveling through all these places, I was able to learn about different cultures, how people live and the countries’ unique characteristics,” Albright said. “I think traveling has given me a perspective on the world and helped me realize that it is something I enjoy.”

Throughout her travels, she has tried many unique activities such as camel riding, hiking in the Alps, kayaking in Chile and rock climbing in Italy.

“The coolest experience I had was riding elephants in Thailand and going into the water,” Albright said. “I was scared to fall off because I didn’t want an elephant to stomp on me. My mom told me a story about a Chinese man who was stomped on after he fell off, so when I rode the elephant, I was super cautious.”

Although she has visited most of these countries with her family, Albright has been to a few unique places with the program Overland Summers. Overland is a teen travel company where you can hike and bond with other teenagers from around the world. With Overland, Albright has been to Peru, Italy, France and Switzerland.

“My experience with Overland has been amazing because I was able to meet people all across the United States and the world and was able to travel with a great group of people and see things together for the first time.”

Although she enjoyed all of the countries she has been to, Albright has her favorites.

“Peru is my favorite country I have been to, but if I had to revisit one I would probably go back to Italy,” Albright said. “I only went to the northern part, and I’d like to go see the southern tip and more of the coastal regions. One place I would like to go is Bali because I think it has a different environment than Florida, and there are a variety of things to do and see there.”

Since her travel experiences are a big part of her life, Albright created an Instagram account dedicated to all her trips. Her favorite pictures include Machu Picchu and the towers of Patagonia.

“From all the places I’ve visited, I have so many pictures and experiences I want to share with everyone,” Albright said. “I wanted to create an account so I can share everything I’ve done with people.”

Albright’s travel account is influenced by Instagram bloggers such as @earthyandy and @ohhcouture.

“I like their Instagrams the most because of their aesthetic pictures and the mood they bring off to their followers,” Albright said. “@earthyandy is a health food blogger who’s from Hawaii and posts about her family, lifestyle and food choices.

“@ohhcouture is a travel blogger and she shares on Instagram her experiences and from all of her stunning locations,” Albright said.

Albright has many adventures ahead of her, including her spring break trip with Trinity.

“I am going to Japan with Mr. Milsten,” Albright said. “I’m really excited for the trip because a few of my closest friends are also going with me. I am looking forward to the sushi and other than that, they live in a super high-tech society. I will definitely take a lot of photos because it’s such a perfect place to capture and remember.”

Albright has a lot of tips and advice for those less-seasoned travelers.

“When it comes to traveling, have an open mind when it comes to new countries or places—especially to the food!” Albright said. “Try new things because you may end up regretting [not trying them] later.”
