The Trinity Prep Girls Varsity Soccer team ended their season with a record of 6-8-3 after losing 3-0 to Lake Highland in the District semi-finals. The girls were upset with the outcome of their final game, but overall felt like they had a great season.
“Overall I believe that our team had a strong season. It was unfortunately cut short with our loss to [Lake] Highland. From beginning to end, our team changed and developed into one that had good chemistry and flowed [well],” senior captain Claire Callan said.
It was the final season for Callan and her fellow seniors Tedi Beemer, Meagan Johnson and Lauren Henehan. Even though the team will be losing four starters, the seniors are confident that next season will be even more successful.
“I think we’re going to be excellent next year; we have a lot of young talent. We made a lot of progress this year, and hopefully those gains come to fruition next year!” Beemer said.
With such a young team, the improvement over the course of the year could play a crucial role in the team’s future.
“Our younger players really stepped up this year and I anticipate them dominating on the soccer field next season,” Callan said.
The team is now seven years removed from a trip to the State Final Four. With the amount of young talent on the team, Trinity Prep girls soccer program has a bright future ahead of them.
