People’s Choice Awards Highlights

Peoples+Choice+Awards+Highlights

The People’s Choice Awards 2016 had plenty of surprises and emotional moments. The awards show made many teary eyed, although that could have been from sadness or laughter, and gave audiences a serious sense of deja vu at one point.

Jane Lynch hosted the show and opened with a parody of the hit song “Shut Up and Dance.” Later she poked fun at Steve Harvey’s infamous mistake from the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Columbia won the “Most Deserving of a People’s Choice Award” award but not before it was accidently given to Thomas Lennon. While it wasn’t the crown she was going for, a People’s Choice Award isn’t too shabby.

Dakota Johnson had a wardrobe malfunction when presenter Leslie Mann hugged her too hard and accidentally broke her dress. She had to hold it up while giving her acceptance speech but was able to laugh the accident off.

Vin Diesel took an emotional turn while accepting awards for Furious 7. He talked about how the love for his co-star, Paul Walker, drove the film. A teary eyed Vin Diesel said, “When we didn’t want to come back to filming when the tragedy was too heavy, it was the love of everyone combined that saw us through to the end.”

While the hosts of “The Talk” were accepting the “Daytime Hosts” award, the audience thought it was seeing flashbacks of Kanye’s infamous night at the VMA’s. An unknown stage crasher made it past PCA security to give his own speech. Sharon Osbourne kicked him so that Sara Gilbert could finish her acceptance speech, and he was quickly apprehended afterwards.

Finally, PCA pro Ellen Degeneres accepted two awards, the “Daytime TV Host” and the “Humanitarian Award,” and joked about being the “Mother Theresa of talk shows.” Can’t argue with that one!
