Grace VanderWaal’s new album, “Just the Beginning.”

Many remember Grace VanderWaal from the TV show, “America’s Got Talent” where she made her mark with her original song, “I Don’t Know My Name.” The hit song and her remarkable voice gave her the golden buzzer, and led her to ultimately winning the 11th season of the show. Since then, VanderWaal’s fame has only increased. She has won a Teen Choice Award, released an EP titled Perfectly Imperfect, and was named by Billboard magazine’s 21 under 21 list. VanderWaal’s first album Just The Beginning truly is just the beginning for the young and rising star.

“Moonlight”

“Moonlight” is one of my favorites on the album and it has a fun, tropical beat throughout the entirety of the song. This song really shows VanderWaal’s maturity in both her voice and her lyrics. Although the song has a fun beat, the true meaning of the song is about someone who is going through depression and all of the struggles that they face.

“So Much More Than This”

VanderWaal released this track on Sept. 14 to help promote her new album. This song is about not getting involved in unnecessary drama and to not let the little things get you down. This is a very relatable song, especially because so many of VanderWaal’s fans are young. She wants her fans to know that life is about thinking about the bigger picture and not getting tied down by the smaller aspects of life.

“Sick Of Being Told”

“Sick Of Being Told” is a track about rebellion. VanderWaal sings about wanting to live her life the way she pleases and not have other people tell her what to do.  The song has a catchy, yet empowering chorus and provides the message that everyone should stand up for themself.

Following the release of her album, VanderWaal is set to begin her first sold out tour where she will be performing in 13 different cities. Winning “America’s Got Talent” provided VanderWaal with the foundation she needed to truly become a star.
