After eleven years of being dean at various schools, Dave Langdon is resigning at Orlando Christian Prep to become Dean of Upper School students next fall.
“I started as dean while at Cypress Creek High School. The principal came up to me and told me he wanted me to be one of the deans. I said, ‘Yes sir’ and thus started my career as being a dean,” said Langdon. “I never asked for the position at any of my previous schools. Somehow it always worked out that is what they wanted me to do.”
Langdon has had a history of being dean. He began his career at Cypress Creek High School, where he was dean for seven years. He then became the 11th and 12th grade dean at Dr. Phillips High School for four years. He has been the middle school and high school dean at Orlando Christian Prep for the last three years.
“The job has really allowed me to help students become successful by helping them identify why they are behaving in a particular pattern that may be setting them back in the school environment,” said Langdon. “It can be a very challenging job, but it is also very rewarding.”
Dean of Upper School students William Milsten offers his advice after four years of being dean.
“I think the most important responsibility of being a dean is serving as an ombudsman for the students; someone the students are able to confide in,” said Milsten. “We expect a lot from the students, and it’s important to get to know them.”
Alongside his duties as dean, Langdon has also been head football at all three of his previous schools.
According to Orlando Sentinel, Coach Langdon started the football program at Orlando Christian Prep and has been a head coach in the area since 1992.
“With a heavy heart, I leave the players and the rest of the OCP community,” said Langdon.
After coaching at Orlando Christian Prep for three seasons, Langdon has resigned to become defensive coordinator under Coach Kruczek at the school next fall.
“Coach Langdon brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to our program, which will not only be a huge asset to our players, but also to the entire Trinity Prep community,” said Kruczek.
Additionally, Langdon will also be teaching social science at the school in the upcoming school year.
“I am very excited to become part of the TPS school and community,” said Langdon.
