Our school has the remarkable fortune of being gifted with an exceptional patch of new faculty and staff. The Trinity family expanded with a variety of different individuals, including a Super Bowl champion, a trained Opera singer and an alto saxophone player.
Even though these new members of our faculty and staff are diverse in their fields of expertise, they all share a passion to excel in their specific areas and improve our school’s position in the community.
The Renaissance Man
David Langdon joins the ranks of influential figures such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli and Dante Alighieri. These men are characterized as “Renaissance Men,” individuals who pride themselves on being proficient in vast and diverse fields.
As a dean, teacher and football coach, Langdon is definitely our school’s “Renaissance Man.” Even before joining the faculty of our school, Langdon has been an immensely influential character in the community.
Langdon has been a teacher, dean and coach for 16 years in both private and public schools, including Cypress Creek, Dr. Phillips and Orlando Christian Prep.
As the Upper School dean, he aims to keep everything running smoothly and in order but also urges students to enjoy “the freeness and beauty of the campus.” Langdon describes himself as not simply an enforcer of our policies but as someone with whom students can have a casual, friendly conversation.
Langdon teaches 9th grade World History, but his main area of interest is the history of the United States.
As a teacher, he will be a strong supplement to our Social Science Department. As a coach, he will be fundamental in building a new, improved football team. When he is not busy with his heavy workload, Langdon is also an avid fisher and golfer.
The Saxophone-playing scientist
Aaron Ashworth has always marveled at the dimensions and expansive nature of the scientific world. As a child, he was deeply fascinated by the ancient dinosaurs. Now, his interests have shifted from the prehistoric world of these extinct creatures to the endless universe of biology and physics.
In college, Ashworth majored in molecular biology. After earning his undergraduate degree, he continued his studies with a master’s degree in health care ethics, after which he moved to Central Florida. Originally, Ashworth did not want to become a teacher, but once he tried it he fell in love with the profession.
As a member of the faculty, Ashworth teaches biology and physics, but he also has a genuine interest in the growing study of Immunology. The field fascinates him because it covers “anything from infections, allergies and how the human body responds to them.”
Ashworth’s activities outside of school range from running and kayaking to enjoying Florida’s beaches. The scientist is an outstanding musician. He plays the alto saxophone and is proficient in performing classical music on the piano.
The Super Bowl Champion
When Mike Kruczek came to coach the school’s football program, everyone could feel the waves of surprise and excitement on campus. This man’s illustrious career in coaching and playing football speaks for itself. Yet, there is even more to this new football coach than these astounding credentials.
After graduating from St. John’s College High School military school, Kruczek played quarterback for Boston University. During his time in Boston, he was described by his coaches as a “skilled passer” with “pin-point” accuracy.
Continuing his career, Kruczek rose to the national stage, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His legacy there is defined by six consecutive wins, leading the Steelers to the AFC title game.
After his NFL career, Kruczek began coaching the game he loved. He was the quarterback coach at Florida State University, an offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals and the head coach at the University of Central Florida. Now, he is investing his vast knowledge of the sport into the football team. Kruczek’s arrival has shed a new light into the prospects of his team and set a new challenge for himself. Kruczek told the Orlando Sentinel about his reasons for coming to the school.
“It’s a different adventure for me. I’ve been there and done that at a lot of places, but Trinity Prep is a great school,” Kruczek said. “At the competitive level that most of their sports compete, they do a good job. They have developed a reputation for winning championships. It’s a win-win situation for us both.”
The Iowa Native
Kelly Aull moved from her home state of Iowa fairly recently. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in social studies education. After receiving her education, she taught for three years in Iowa’s public school system, where she educated students in World History, AP World History, and AP Macro and Micro Economics.
During this period, Aull also participated in history courses geared for foreign language speakers. However, this year she will be teaching economics.
Through her expertise in this field, Aull offers her advice to any venturous students eager to enter the stock market.
“Think long term, not short term. When I put my money somewhere, I intend to keep it there for a long time,” she said.
Aull’s life outside of school includes playing fantasy football, reading and playing with her dogs.
However, she admits that she needs to develp new hobbies that will maximize her Florida experience.
Aull is excited about her future prospects in a new state and school.
The Cheerleader
When she was in high school, Bonnie Kelly was extremely involved in athletics. She participated in track, cross country and even cheerleading. Kelly was born in New York but moved to central Florida 25 years ago.
Nowadays, Kelly takes the responsibility of Athletics Department Administrative Assistant, where she ensures every athlete is prepared mentally, physically and academically. Kelly’s job is a fundamental pillar for all athletic activities.
In addition, the New York native enjoys a lively activeness outside of her career. Kelly said her hobbies are a varied combination of “hanging out with my grown-up children, going to the beach, taking care of my grandson and working out every day.”
Kelly seems to take that positive vibe from her personal life to her office, where she toils happily through the mounds of paperwork.
Our school’s athletics program has a bright future, and Kelly will be one of the individuals who will help us achieve our goals.
The Shakespeare Fanatic
Loryn Eriksson has an undisputable passion for the works of the English literary master, William Shakespeare. As she teaches 7th and 8th grade English this year, she hopes to transmit that same excitement to her students.
Eriksson’s love of teaching started in a math classroom. When citing her influences to go into her profession, the first name that she stated was a math teacher.
“He taught me to embrace my inner nerdom,” Eriksson said.
As a teacher, she wants to encourage her students to be proud of their somewhat “odd” interests, just like her math teacher encouraged her to be vocal about her love for Shakespeare.
In college, she majored in English and Spanish, obtaining a master’s degree in the works of her beloved English poet.
Eriksson is impressed by the finesse of the poet, but more specifically she admires his off-color “yet hilarious jokes that we can find intertwined in the mastery of his poetry.”
Also, throughout the course of her college experience, she became a classically trained opera singer.
She is a soprano and has performed for the San Antonio Opera Company.
Apart from being an English teacher, Eriksson will continue to serve as our school’s girls varsity tennis coach.
She has been involved in tennis ever since she could hold a racket.
In her spare time, the English teacher participates in Crossfit and flag-football. These activities keep Eriksson active and fit.
