A series of strange events have led students and faculty to believe that our own Headmaster Byron Lawson has more in common with fictional heroes than previously thought.
DAY ONE
Monday, March 25. As students were leaving their classes for the day and grabbing their bags, they noticed a glowing light coming from Lawson’s office. They decided to investigate and look into his office, but as soon as he noticed, Lawson abruptly closed his blinds and the students were intrigued by what was on Lawson’s screen. Freshman Matias Morales was one of the students looking into the office, claiming he saw something mysterious on his computer screens.
“I saw it, I saw him looking at three different computers each with different things on them,” Morales said. “The first computer screen showed the crimes around Winter Park and the second computer screen showed cameras of a room I had never seen. I couldn’t see the third, but I think I saw a Batman symbol.”
The rest of the students were kept anonymous but all recited the same story.
DAY TWO
Tuesday, March 26. Assistant head of school Dennis Herron, decided to work a little later than normal. As Herron was packing up at the end of the day, he decided to go to headmaster Byron Lawson to say goodbye. As he was leaving, Herron noticed that something was off.
“It was just a normal night,” Herron said. “I went into his office to say goodbye like I always do. But when I went in, I couldn’t see him. I heard this ruffling noise. So I called his name, and I started to walk around to the back of his desk, I found him covering up what looked like a round yellow button in one of his desk drawers. I decided to tell him goodbye one more time and then I walked out without asking a question.”
After this happened Herron swore to keep a close eye on him.
DAY THREE
Wednesday, March 27. Administration was waiting for their weekly meeting to start, waiting for Lawson to arrive. The meeting time is the same every week, starting at 9 a.m. ending at 10 a.m. The time was 9:30 a.m. and Lawson was nowhere to be seen. By the time 9:45 rolled around Lawson walked in wearing all black. Upper school dean of students Kyle McGimsey noticed that it was the third time he has worn it that week.
“Usually Mr. Lawson wears navy blue suits and sometimes he will wear a yellow tie,” McGimsey said. “I love the school spirit, but recently he has been wearing all black. Today marks the third day that he is wearing all black.”
Although administration was annoyed from the delayed start, they were curious why his clothing has made a recent change.
DAY FOUR
Thursday March 28. Every Thursday, Herron and Lawson go to dinner to discuss work matters. Lawson supposedly canceled the dinner for ‘another conflict’ so Herron thought to deliver dinner before he left school for the night.
“I must have walked to his office at the wrong time because I saw him drop down, I ran to go help him but when I got to the back of his desk there was nothing there, not even a chair,” Herron said.” “I looked up at his computer screen and I saw the words ‘BE RIGHT BACK, IN THE BAT-’ written on them. I quickly ran out and never looked back.”
Before he could finish reading what the computer said, Herron was immediately scared and confused but decided to just leave it behind him and forget about the situation.
DAY FIVE
Friday, March 29. As the halftime buzzer goes off the crowd notices the sky light up with the bat symbol. As the symbol starts to catch everyone’s attention a black and yellow sports car comes speeding toward the field and off of campus toward where the symbol was coming from. The crowd was stunned by where this car was coming from and the timing of it was impeccable. The lacrosse team was eager to find out more and started to talk amongst themselves about it. Senior Rahul Sivakumaran was one of the most curious.
“The timing of it was insane because as soon as the symbol was in the sky the car started speeding out,” Sivakumaran said. “As I was watching the car come out I saw the same symbol that was in the sky on the side of the car. Most people were saying that the car was coming from the head of school’s house.”
After a lot of research and hard work from our own Trinity Saints the secret is now out. The Headmaster of Trinity Prep, Byron Lawson, is the one and only Batman.
