Jack Black and cast pose for new movie.

With Halloween coming up this weekend, now is the prime time for a movie marathon.  Classics like “Paranormal Activity” and “Halloweentown” are obviously on the list, but you can’t forget about the recent releases.  From silly to scary, there is a new Halloween movie out for everyone.

Goosebumps

It’s up to a young teenager and the daughter of R.L. Stine, famous young adult horror author, to save the town of Madison, Delaware from Stine’s imaginary demons.  Goosebumps is a fun movie when you’re in the mood for monsters to make you laugh instead of cry.  Although, Jack Black as Stine, the imaginer of the monsters, will make you laugh until you cry.

Crimson Peak

Edith, an aspiring writer and heir to her father’s fortune has the ability to see ghosts.  She is  wooed by Sir Thomas (the protagonist turned antagonist turned protagonist of the story) and after marrying him, moves to his estate in England.  From the second you see Crimson Peak, Edith’s new home, you will have a bad feeling in your gut.  She is terrorized by ghosts in the house to the point where she begins to ask questions about why there are so many.  There are a series of unfortunate, and extremely disturbing, twists and turns before a very gory ending.  While this movie was good, it is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Hotel Transylvania 2

This movie is a cute Halloween comedy that’s perfect for all ages.  In the prequel to this movie, Dracula has a strict monsters-only policy for his hotel.  This time the humans are allowed in, craziness ensues with things getting batty pretty quickly!
