Choral director Christina Carter promised “a few tricks and lots of treats” at the start of this year’s Fall Showcase, and she certainly delivered. The Showcase—a collaboration of strings, choral, wind, and percussion—was full of Trinity Prep talent.
The music itself was terrific— Percussion and Band’s numbers were boldly spirited numbers in their own right— but other Showcase performers took the opportunity to liven the performance with Halloween spirit. Strings 2, 3, and 4 played the dynamic and appropriately creepy “Ghost of John.” In the midst of “Monster Mash,” a masked Frakenstein popped out and danced through the auditorium. Vocal society dramatized “Hist Whist” by EE Cummings with the use of synchronized flashlights under their chins. In the darkened auditorium, the performance had a fantastically spooky effect.
The show culminated in the costumed dance number “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as performed by the Glee Club.
“It’s just fun when you get a big ensemble together. You get to see how hard others are working, and you have a more varied performance,” Strings Director Maureen May said.
In case you missed this year’s Fall Showcase, there will be more concerts in the future. In December, there will be three concerts: Strings on the 9th, Band on the 12th, and Chorus on the 15th.
