Abused and bullied as a child, Mary Lambert was able to turn the darkest part of her life into success in the music industry.   Lambert had released a few singles, but it wasn’t until being featured in Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis’s Grammy-winning song “Same Love” that her name, or more accurately her voice, became well known.

She is often compared to Adele, but her most recent single, “Secrets,” was more pop than the soul in Adele’s ballads.  Don’t get me wrong, Lambert’s new single has a great message, but it almost sounds like she is speaking the words instead of singing them.

“She Keeps Me Warm” is Lambert’s other popular single, which she developed after singing the chorus in “Same Love.”  In “She Keeps Me Warm,” Lambert sings about the fact that she can’t change her sexuality, a message that she had a hardtime getting across to others in high school.   “Secrets” is a much more upbeat track compared to the slow and rhythmic sound of “She Keeps Me Warm.”  Both songs are catchy and reflect her heart.

Mary Lambert is no one-hit-wonder, and I hope to hear a new album from Lambert in the near future.
