Alessia Cara has finally released her much awaited debut album. Her single, “Here,” became the anthem of self-proclaimed introverts everywhere after it was released a few months ago. The song talks about wanting to be anywhere but where she is, a raging party. In an ironic twist it seemed like everyone was playing this song when they went out or had a party. Now she has come out with the album Know-It-All, and it does not disappoint. Standouts include:
“Seventeen”
Cara’s song “Seventeen” is one that most of us can definitely relate to. It talks about how life flies by. She sings, “Now I wish I could freeze the time at seventeen” and so do many of us. With relatable lyrics and a tune that will make you want to hum along to, this song is one of my new favorites.
“Outlaws”
Cara shows a little bit of her rebel side in “Outlaws.” In this song she talks about finding her own bad boy. With lyrics like, “You’ll never face a judge without me,” she is a stand-by-your-man-kinda-girl. “You and me, they’ll never understand the honor, among these thieves” aren’t my favorite lyrics because nobody wants to be the person that only hangs out with his/her significant other. This song is another upbeat anthem for the rebels out there.
“Stone”
Cara slows it down with “Stone,” breaking away from her usual. This ballad talks about one thing being constant, but she never specifies what this ‘one thing’ is. I like this song because she could be talking about anyone from a significant other to a best friend. Everybody needs someone to depend on, and this song is a tribute to that person.
